This afternoon we were treated to a show by a music group called "Strike". 3 members of this 10 member group played a range of percussion instruments. They even chose some children to help them play instruments. The music was VERY LOUD. Some children had to cover their ears. The guys showed us some very special earplugs they wear to protect their ears when they are playing the instruments. The band comes from Wellington but plays at different schools and venues around New Zealand and the world. They were also very funny at times - such as when they were playing with fresh-up cans and one of them kept putting a can on his head.
Some pictures of this afternoon's performance.

As part of our "Kitchen Chemistry" unit we made french toast - well we told Miss Duncan what to do, she made it, Jennifer was our waitress and we ate the toast. It was delicious. Many came back for a second piece. To make french toast, you need: bread (probably 1 or 2 days old would be best), eggs, milk, cinnamon and butter. We think Kirsten's piece of toast disappeared the fastest.

Sacred Heart's Got Talent showed some of the talent from Room 4. Charis and Pearl sung"Someone Like You" by Adele. Jennifer performed a dance taken from the movie "Student of the Year". The recent good news in Room 4 is that our very own Charis was selected to sing in the Special Choir for the school's music festival being held later in the year. Congratulations Charis!

Happy Birthday to Janelle and Amber - 10 years old tomorrow and Tuesday. We celebrated with cakes, party bags and singing. Here are our 2 birthday girls enjoying a piece of "tiger cake" made by Amber's mum. Janelle's mum then came in with cupcakes and party bags for all.
Today we observed what would happen when yeast, sugar and flour are mixed together. Always a good idea to put the cup on a plate for when the mixture froths over and makes a mess over the bench - yes that is what happened here. It was funny to watch though.
Have a great long weekend. We are told that the sun will shine every day so lots of time to play outside.

A beautiful start to the day but that all changed after lunch. Just as we were going out for sport the cold wind blew in. However this did not change the fun we had playing netball, tag games and soccer. Check out some of the photos of us out on the courts (sorry soccer players, the reserve was too cold for the photographer!).

Today in writing we wrote directions telling Goldilocks how to get to Grandma's house. These are Bradley's directions telling Goldilocks how to get to Grandma's house.
Today was drama day. In groups we were given the task of creating a beach scene and saying aloud what we were thinking. We worked very well together, had lots of fun and learned about mime and moving in slow motion.
This afternoon we helped to make scrambled eggs as part of our "kitchen chemistry" study. This was very easy to make and tasted delicious too.
