Happy Birthday to Janelle and Amber - 10 years old tomorrow and Tuesday.  We celebrated with cakes, party bags and singing.  Here are our 2 birthday girls enjoying a piece of "tiger cake" made by Amber's mum.  Janelle's mum then came in with cupcakes and party bags for all.

Today we observed what would happen when yeast, sugar and flour are mixed together.  Always a good idea to put the cup on a plate for when the mixture froths over and makes a mess over the bench - yes that is what happened here.  It was funny to watch though.

Have a great long weekend.  We are told that the sun will shine every day so lots of time to play outside.

A beautiful start to the day but that all changed after lunch.  Just as we were going out for sport the cold wind blew in.  However this did not change the fun we had playing netball, tag games and soccer.  Check out some of the photos of us out on the courts (sorry soccer players, the reserve was too cold for the photographer!).

Today in writing we wrote directions telling Goldilocks how to get to Grandma's house.  These are Bradley's directions telling Goldilocks how to get to Grandma's house.

This afternoon we observed the egg we had put in vinegar yesterday.  We found that the egg shell had become very soft.  Do try this at home.
Today was drama day.  In groups we were given the task of creating a beach scene and saying aloud what we were thinking. We worked very well together, had lots of fun and learned about mime and moving in slow motion.

This afternoon we helped to make scrambled eggs as part of our "kitchen chemistry" study.  This was very easy to make and tasted delicious too.

What a busy Thursday!  We learned a new maths game - multiplication hangman.  There was a lot of talk, laughing, predicting, using our times tables knowledge and cheering.

During writing we were given a sheet with instructions for making fairy cakes.  We worked with a partner to sequence these instructions.  At the end of this activity we decided that had we followed our lists of instructions there would be some delicious fairy cakes and there would be some disaster fairy cakes.  Mmm - wonder if we will get to make these fairy cakes.

This afternoon we discussed the qualities needed to be a confident person.  What a list of great ideas we came up with.  We then learned about responding to bullying and different types of bullying.

Thank you to Cindy - our photographer for the day.

In written language we have been learning how to write a procedure to make an animal mask.  Some examples of the masks we wrote about are: an elephant mask, a cheetah mask,  a puppy mask, a lion mask, a hyena mask and a cat mask.  We can't wait to see the finished products.
The next activity in drama was to perform a slow motion sequence of a caveman being attacked by a sabre-tooth tiger.  When we finished the slow motion act we froze the last action - a "freeze frame".
In drama we played the game called "Fruit bowl'.  We had to listen for the fruit we were and when called had to jump out of our seats, run around and change chairs.

We learned how to stay safe near dogs.  Children were taught to ask owners to pat dogs before doing so.
Our high achievers in Room 4.  Trophy won in recent marching competition.  Great work girls!
A very happy Room 4 class on a warm autumn day.
